Drawing of the Water Tower in Kingman, AZ. Kingman has a rich Asian American history. The Chinese American community first arrived in Kingman in the 1880s to help build the southern transcontinental railroad route to California. The water towers were originally constructed in 1910 to support railroad operations. In 1942, Kingman was home to an Air Force base that trained 33 Chinese American cadets who went on to fight in World War II in Europe and the Pacific.
