One Book One World

In the spring of 2021, I volunteered with One Book One World (O.B.O.W.), an organization dedicated to addressing the lack of A.A.P.I. representation in school curriculums. At the time, no state in America had mandated the teaching of A.A.P.I. history. With most schools operating on tight budgets, purchasing books outside the standard curriculum was often impossible. O.B.O.W.'s mission was to donate books by A.A.P.I. authors and illustrators to schools and libraries across the country, helping to fill this educational gap.

Initially, I planned to contribute my graphic design expertise by creating marketing materials for O.B.O.W.'s social media campaigns. However, my role evolved into serving as a liaison between the organization and the publishing industry. I reached out to my clients in publishing to encourage contributions of books to support this cause. Thanks to these efforts, we successfully donated nearly 2,000 books to schools and libraries nationwide, making a meaningful impact on A.A.P.I. education.
