One Book One World

In the spring of 2021, I volunteered with One Book One World (O.B.O.W.), an organization committed to addressing the lack of A.A.P.I. representation in school curricula. At the time, no state in the U.S. had mandated the teaching of A.A.P.I. history. With many schools operating under tight budgets, purchasing books outside the standard curriculum was often out of reach. O.B.O.W.’s mission was to help close this gap by donating books by A.A.P.I. authors and illustrators to schools and libraries across the country.

While I initially joined to contribute graphic design support for O.B.O.W.’s social media campaigns, my role quickly evolved into serving as a liaison between the organization and the publishing industry. I reached out to my publishing clients to encourage book donations in support of the cause. Through these efforts, we successfully distributed nearly 2,000 books to schools and libraries nationwide—making a meaningful impact on A.A.P.I. education and representation.
