Hop Kee is a Cantonese restaurant on Mott Street that proudly preserves its family heritage. Opened in 1968 by Peter Lee’s father after immigrating from Hong Kong, the restaurant has become a Chinatown staple. While the menu has seen updates to appeal to a new generation of diners, one dish remains unchanged: their famous Cantonese-style crabs with black bean sauce. This signature recipe, created by Lee’s father, is a rare find that sets Hop Kee apart.

Known as a go-to spot for late-night bites, Hop Kee keeps its tradition alive by staying open until 1 a.m. Lee hopes the restaurant will continue to be a place of family, community, and belonging for years to come.
