Guardian Lion
Guardian Lion
A drawing of one of two Guardian Lion statues in Amboy, CA, which mysteriously appeared in 2013 with unknown origins. Made of marble and standing roughly six feet tall, these male and female statues, known as Foo Dogs, are traditional symbols of protection. Over the years, visitors have attached their own interpretations and meanings to the statues.
In 2005, Albert Okura, a third-generation Japanese American chicken restaurateur and preservationist, purchased the unincorporated ghost town of Amboy, pledging to restore it. However, it remains unclear whether there is any connection between Okura and the Foo Dogs.
