The largest Chinatown gate in the world is the Friendship Archway, located in Washington, D.C. Built in 1985, the archway stands 47 feet 7 inches (14.5 meters) tall and 75 feet (23 meters) wide. It cost $1 million to construct and was designed to attract visitors to the area, boost foot traffic for local businesses, and support the community.
Unfortunately, development in the area has caused property values to skyrocket, displacing most of the residents. Today, only about 300 people still live in Washington, D.C.’s Chinatown. This serves as a cautionary tale for other Chinatowns across the nation.
Limited Edition Prints: All archival prints are printed on canvas and come with at least 1.5 inch bleed so they can be stretched and framed. They are also hand embellished with a splash of color, signed, numbered, and dated. This is the inaugural set of prints, and will be limited to 5 total prints of each piece.
