Corky Lee was a Chinese-American activist, community organizer, photographer, journalist, and the self-proclaimed unofficial Asian American Photographer Laureate. His contributions were so immense that I couldn’t possibly do them justice in a single post. I never had the chance to meet Corky, but in honor of his legacy, I want to extend this series, “Portraits from the Community,” indefinitely. There are so many incredible unsung heroes who tirelessly serve our community every single day—not just in May.
True art educates, inspires, and empowers us, and I’d like to believe that Corky’s spirit lives on in all of us!
