Chinatown Ice Cream Factory
Chinatown Ice Cream Factory
In 1978, the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory introduced New Yorkers to Asian-inspired ice cream flavors. Founded by Philip Seid, who immigrated to the U.S. from Taishan, China, in the early 1900s, the shop quickly became a beloved staple of Chinatown. Philip created unique flavors such as lychee, green tea, red bean, black sesame, and egg tart, which resonated with locals and visitors alike.
Now run by Christina Seid, Philip’s daughter, the shop continues to thrive, offering an eclectic variety of ice cream flavors that celebrate Asian culture and heritage. It remains a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists from around the world.
