Chinatown Branch Library Chicago
This is the Chinatown Branch Library in Chicago, Illinois, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in 2015. The building was inspired by the Bird’s Nest Stadium from the Beijing Olympics. During the daytime, its high-glass curtain walls allow an abundance of natural light to flood the interior. At night, the building glows from within, resembling a lantern when viewed from the outside.
The end of the Lunar New Year is traditionally celebrated with the Lantern Festival. There are many ways to celebrate, such as eating tangyuan or enjoying a lion dance, but my favorite way is to share riddles.
