Atlanta Chinatown
Atlanta Chinatown
Atlanta Chinatown is one of the newer Chinatowns in America, its growth fueled by an exodus of people leaving Hong Kong before its handover to China in 1997.
Atlanta Chinatown is one of the few Chinatowns in the South. It’s a commercial Chinatown, meaning no one lives there. Similarly, Las Vegas also has a commercial Chinatown located in a mall. The mall is guarded by two Foo Dogs, or Guardian Lions. The female lion (on the left) symbolizes protection for the people inside, while the male lion (on the right) protects the structure itself. Foo Dogs are a common sight at many Chinese establishments worldwide, serving as symbols of strength and protection.
